Summer in Loveland hits its stride fast. From live music that carries through downtown to festivals that take over entire weekends, it’s a place where your calendar fills up quickly and your plans tend to evolve as you go. Here’s how both locals and guests can make the most of it.
One Sweet Summer: the rhythm of the season
If there’s something that defines summer in Loveland, it’s One Sweet Summer. This series of events brings a steady lineup of events to downtown Loveland, giving people of all ages and interests something to do nearly every week. It’s not limited to a single type of event. It blends live music, community gatherings and family-friendly programming, keeping the experience varied and engaging all season long.
You’ll find weekly concerts, fitness classes, kids’ activities and rotating themed events, many of them free and easy to drop into. It’s designed to make downtown feel like a place you want to spend time, not just pass through.
Live music at Foote Lagoon & Centerra
On Thursday nights, Foote Lagoon becomes one of the most laid-back concert venues in northern Colorado. Set against water, public art and open lawn space, the Foote Lagoon Amphitheater hosts a summer concert series that draws both locals and visitors. Grab a treat from a nearby restaurant or food truck and settle in for an evening of live music under the open sky. It’s simple, consistent and one of the easiest ways to tap into the energy of summer in downtown Loveland.
On the other side of town, Sounds of Centerra offers four nights of live music at Chapungu Sculpture Park on the Great Lawn. From 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., gather for live music, giveaways and food and drink for purchase. Several restaurants at Centerra are offering deals for concert-goers so check out the website for more details.
Festival season in full swing
Loveland’s event calendar comes to life in summer. To kick things off, on May 30, Blues & Cruise pairs live blues music with a showcase of classic cars that line the streets of downtown in several locations. This year will also feature a little friendly competition for a good cause. Presented by Meals on Wheels, participants can race to “deliver” meals as quickly as possible in Push Car Challenges.
Downtown Loveland Bluegrass & Brews Festival
This early-season festival, taking place on June 5 and 6 this year, is one of the best ways to kick things off. Set in the heart of downtown, the downtown Loveland Bluegrass & Brews Festival brings together live bluegrass music and Colorado craft beer in a setting that feels both energetic and approachable. Events will take place on Fourth Street, as well as The Foundry, so check out their website for an event schedule. But honestly, with the crowds this event attracts each year, if you’re downtown, you won’t be able to miss it!

Larmier County Fair and Drone Show
Although we have a whole separate blog about it, we’d be remiss not to mention here all of the fun to be had at the Larimer County Fair and Rodeo. The fair will help locals and visitors alike celebrate the US 250/Colorado 150 Anniversaries with Colorado’s largest time capsule, historic banner walk featuring important founding documents, an Indigenous-led opening ceremony, a 250/150-themed drone show and, of course, all your fair favorites. The fair will take place at The Ranch from July 31 through August 4.
Loveland Corn Roast Festival
A longtime local favorite, the Loveland Corn Roast Festival blends classic fair-style fun with live entertainment, vendors and, of course, roasted corn. It’s one of the most recognizable events of the season and draws visitors from across the region. This year, it takes place on August 21 and 22 and will be located at Fairgrounds Park.
Overland Expo Mountain West
If you’re more interested in epic camping vehicles than corn shucking contests, head to the Overland Expo Mountain West at The Ranch that same weekend, August 21-23. In 2025, the Expo welcomed over 18,000 attendees with 347 exhibitors and 308+ hours of educational sessions. As the event returns this summer, it will feature hands-on workshops, exciting vehicle displays and community gatherings like happy hours, live music and charity raffles. Last year, the event drew attendees from 49 states and nine countries who came together to connect, learn and celebrate the overlanding lifestyle, making it a memorable weekend for adventurers worldwide.
Art and local celebrations worth planning around
Sculpture in the Park and Art in the Park, two nationally recognized art events held on August 7-9, bring artists and visitors from across the country to Loveland. Sculpture in the Park’s 42nd year is the largest outdoor juried show and sale in the United States.
Downtown Loveland: where it all comes together
Many of these events center around downtown Loveland, and that’s part of what makes the experience feel connected. Between events, you can explore locally owned shops, art galleries and a growing lineup of restaurants and breweries. It’s easy to spend a full day moving from coffee to shopping to live music without needing to get back in your car.
Night on the Town adds to that energy each month, bringing extended hours, art openings, live performances and special offerings from local businesses. During the summer, it turns downtown into an open, walkable experience where something is happening on nearly every block.
Wrap up your summer with Dog Days
As summer winds down, Dog Days of Summer in downtown Loveland gives you one more reason to come back. This pet-friendly event brings together local businesses, vendors and activities for your four-legged companions. It’s a more relaxed way to experience downtown, with a focus on community, connection and enjoying the last stretch of the season.
More ways to experience summer in Loveland
While events are a major part of the season, they’re not the only reason to visit. If you’re building out a full weekend or longer stay, consider adding:
- A hike at Devil’s Backbone Open Space for views and quick access to the foothills
- Time at Boyd Lake State Park for paddleboarding, boating or a relaxed beach day
- A stop at either Loveland Visitors Center to explore local art and pick up a love lock
In Loveland, you can easily spend the morning outdoors, the afternoon at a festival and the evening downtown, all without traveling far.
Plan your summer visit
Summer in Loveland isn’t about choosing just one event. It’s about layering experiences. Start with a concert or festival, build in time to explore downtown and leave room for whatever you discover along the way. With a full calendar of events, a growing live music scene and easy access to both art and the outdoors, Loveland makes it easy to turn a quick visit into something more.
