The Colorado Capsule is a statewide community time capsule project created to commemorate America’s 250th anniversary and Colorado’s 150th anniversary of statehood. The project invites Colorado residents to contribute a piece of their story to help preserve this moment in history for future generations.
The Ranch Events Complex will permanently place the Colorado Capsule on-site as part of its master plan, where it will remain sealed until 2076 in celebration of America 300 and Colorado 200.
The goal is to create one shared historical snapshot made up of thousands of personal stories, memories, and artifacts representing life across Colorado in 2026.
The Colorado Capsule is open to all Colorado residents. There are multiple ways to get involved and become part of Colorado’s history.
We’re looking for items that reflect everyday life in Colorado today. Suggested submissions include letters, photographs, artwork, creative writing, postcards, and small keepsakes. For preservation, acid-free paper is recommended.
A selection committee will review all submissions based on long-term preservation, feasibility, safety, and how well they represent the diversity of Colorado life and culture.
All items must be clearly labeled, securely packaged, and include a return address. Submitted items are not guaranteed to be returned if not selected for inclusion. For questions about eligibility or specific items, contact: charles.lamers@cityofloveland.org
