Sweet Heart Wine: Sweet Heart Winery is a Loveland oasis that serves and ships easy-sipping wines. Sweet Heart’s wines are California sourced and Colorado crafted and they’ve acquired quite a following. We recommend the 2019 Tempranillo, though the new winter wine options look tempting: Cranberry Orange Sangria featuring Sweet Heart’s Red Wine Blend and Blood Orange Hard Cider from Climb Hard Cider Co.; and Hot Spiced Mulled Wine.
Locks of Love: With a name like LOVEland, you’d expect a fitting tribute to the heart. There are two in the form of Love Lock sculptures where you can – literally – lock your love. The LOVE sign, located at the Loveland Visitors Center, is the largest sculpture of its kind in the U.S. Buy your holiday sweetheart a lock and have it engraved it for free inside the Visitors Center. Then return to Loveland together to lock your love onto the LOVE sculpture or a second Love Lock sculpture, shaped like a heart, at Lake Loveland.
HeARTs of Glass: Loveland Artist Donna Gordon’s sculpted-blown glass hearts are truly exquisite and they might just be the perfect gift to show your love. Choose from all variety of color combinations and designs; Donna’s hearts have become her signature pieces and are favored by collectors. She also crafts glass flames and bottle stoppers, meaning you’ll find something for the art afficionado on your list, too. Donna’s sculptures can be purchased at the Loveland Visitors Center, or on her website. Shipping is available.
Cheer on the Eagles: Fresh off the Colorado Avalanche’s historic championship season, ‘tis the perfect time to pick up tickets to see the AHL Colorado Eagles play live at Loveland’s Budweiser Event Center in 2022-2023. This is the Eagles’ 20th Anniversary season so expect the celebration to extend beyond the recently unveiled “20th Anniversary” edition third jersey, with heaps of promotions extending through mid-April. Eagles ticket prices start at just $23 (parking is free!) making this an affordable option for the sports fan on your list.
Bottle of Mead: MeadKrieger, which means “mead warrior,” was created with inspiration from Norse History and roots in the science of fermentation. In Norse culture, mead was a drink for both commoners and the upper classes; a tradition that brought communities together. And that is the mission of MeadKrieger, the newest addition to Loveland’s Liquid Arts lineup. The meadery’s tasting room is opening soon; for now, pick up MeadKrieger’s meads and wines – for giving and tasting this holiday season – at Eisenhower Wine and Spirits at 1710 W. Eisenhower Blvd., Loveland.
Hire a Horse: Located just west of Downtown Loveland, at the entrance to Big Thompson Canyon, Sylvan Dale Guest Ranch is a true getaway. Get even further away with a 1- or 1.5-hour winter horseback ride traversing some of the 3,200-acre property, complete with stunning views and (oftentimes) wildlife spotting. Rides are guided by a professional wrangler and geared to the least experienced rider. Sylvan Dale is picturesque and peaceful during the quiet winter months, making this a gift the keeps giving in the form of heartwarming memories. If you really want to go all out, reserve a spot for the Christmas Candlelight & Carols event on Dec. 19, or book a winter weekend stay.
Coffee With Heart: Colorado Coffee Company was one of the first coffee shops and roasters in Northern Colorado. Now this family-owned business operates two locations in Loveland and it’s truly a family affair: the owner’s mom bakes the cinnamon rolls, her daughters greet visitors and everyone helps behind the coffee bar. The coffee is ethically traded and roasted fresh in house.
