Itineraries for Your Trip to Loveland

With so many things to do in Loveland, Colorado, it can be hard to know where to start. Let us help you create an itinerary so you don’t miss any of the city’s best highlights. We’ve created several different itineraries so you can choose the best activities for your interests.

Day 1: Arrival

When the weather is nice, settle in and enjoy an afternoon hike at Devil’s Backbone Open Space. The loop trail offers stunning views and is perfect for getting your bearings. In the winter, enjoy the outdoors ice skating at the Promenade Shops at Centerra.
End the evening with dinner at Comet Chicken and a local brew next door at Verboten or a patio meal downtown.

Day 2: Exploring the Outdoors in Town

To start the morning, rent equipment and head to Boyd Lake for kayaking or paddleboarding. Spend a few hours exploring the shoreline or the Loveland trail system. In the winter, experience Lake Loveland like a local and go ice fishing for the day.
In the afternoon, play a round of golf at Mariana Butte Golf Course and enjoy the incredible mountain views. You might be lucky enough to spot the herd of elk that frequents the area.
To end the evening, watch the sunset and grab a bite at Mariana Butte’s on-site restaurant, The Wapiti Colorado Pub.

Day 3: Rocky Mountain Adventures

Take the 45-minute drive to Rocky Mountain National Park for a full-day adventure. Hike one of the popular trails like Dream Lake or Bear Lake and soak in iconic views. In the winter, consider renting some snowshoes and hitting the trails that way.
Return to Loveland in the late afternoon, then relax with a well-earned dinner at A.K.A. Kitchen for a cozy, local vibe.

Day 4: Rocky Mountain Adventures

Before heading out, grab coffee and breakfast at Dark Heart Coffee Bar. If you’re up for one last stop, visit River’s Edge Natural Area for a peaceful stroll along the water.

Day 1: Arrival

If you are visiting during the summer, check in to your lodging and head to Fairgrounds Park for an afternoon of playground fun, splash pads and river access. Bring a picnic for extended family fun. Any other time of year, the Flipside Arcade is a family favorite and sure to delight.
End the day with pizza at Urban Field Pizza—kid-friendly and delicious!

Day 2: Hands-On Fun and Animals

In the morning, visit the Loveland Museum to explore interactive art exhibits and local history—great for kids of all ages. You can even see the entire collection of stamps from the Valentine Remailing Program.
For the afternoon, spend time at the epic sporting goods store Scheels, complete with an indoor Ferris wheel and floor-to-ceiling fish tanks. Plus, take advantage of some of the best retail stores in Colorado throughout the surrounding area.
When evening rolls around, head to Loveland Laser Tag Fun Center for arcade games, laser tag and an indoor ropes course for family bonding.

Day 3: Lakes and Discovery

Hit the swim beach at Boyd Lake and enjoy the calm water and mountain views. Or bring your fishing poles and see what you can reel in! If it’s not swimming weather, kids can get their energy out at Kids Empire Johnstown.
After some fun in the sun, head to Fort Collins to take in all the interactive activities at the Fort Collins Museum of Discovery.
Wrap up the day with ice cream or a milkshake from The Dairy Delite, a Loveland staple since the 1960s.

Day 4: Departure

For a family-style sendoff, grab breakfast at Doug’s Day Diner. Make sure to get green chile, as only Coloradoans make it!

Settle in and stroll through Benson Sculpture Garden, home to over 150 sculptures in a serene park setting.
Have dinner at Door 222 Food & Drink, which combines an artistic atmosphere with modern American cuisine.

Day 2: Immersive Art and Creativity

Start the day at the Loveland Museum to explore curated exhibits, including works from local and national artists.
Then, tour one (or more) of Loveland’s world-renowned foundries, such as Art Castings of Colorado or Bronze Services of Loveland, to see sculpture-making in action.
When evening hits, head downtown to experience Loveland’s public art, including custom-painted heart sculptures and mural-lined alleyways. Then, have dinner at Henry’s Pub, which has creative decor and a relaxed vibe.

Day 3: Sculpture Parks and Shopping

Spend the day exploring Chapungu Sculpture Park, a 26-acre outdoor gallery featuring over 80 hand-carved Zimbabwean stone sculptures.
Walk through Loveland’s historic downtown and browse local art galleries, such as Lincoln Gallery or Artworks Loveland. Then, stop for artisanal coffee and sculptures at Muse.
Before the day ends, catch a performance at the Rialto Theater—whether it’s live music, film or a local production. Seasonally, you can discover live music at The Foundry or The Foote Lagoon Amphitheater.

Day 4: Departure

Before heading out, make a quick stop at the Love Lock Sculptures near Lake Loveland or the Visitors Center. Add a symbolic padlock to mark your visit, and grab a coffee from Colorado Coffee Company. Don’t forget to order a cinnamon roll also – you won’t regret it!

After you arrive, stop by the Visitors Center to purchase and customize a love lock. Add your lock to the Love Lock Sculpture at the Visitors Center, or venture to the stunning shore of Lake Loveland to find the Love Lock Sculpture there.
In the evening, stroll hand-in-hand through Benson Sculpture Garden, enjoying the charming, romantic atmosphere of a slow pace and inspiring sculptures.

Day 2: Explore Loveland's Natural Beauty

Begin the day with a peaceful hike through Devil’s Backbone Open Space, an iconic spot offering stunning views, a sense of connection to nature and the perfect place for an epic selfie in the Keyhole. If the weather does not allow for a hike, browse local shops in downtown Loveland or consider a foundry tour.
Enjoy a light meal at Sweet Heart Winery for lunch, partnered with wine tasting with panoramic views of the surrounding foothills.
Before calling it a night, have a romantic dinner at the Loveland Chophouse, known for its intimate atmosphere and upscale menu.

Day 3: Discover Art and Local Culture

Begin the day with a visit to the Chapungu Sculpture Park, a tranquil outdoor space featuring Zimbabwean stone sculptures set against the beautiful backdrop of Loveland’s natural scenery. Stroll through the park hand-in-hand, discovering each unique piece of art.
After the park, head to the Artworks Center for Contemporary Art for a more interactive art experience. Explore local galleries, find a unique piece to remember your trip and maybe even catch an interactive workshop or artist talk.
In the late afternoon, take a scenic drive to Flatiron Reservoir, just outside Loveland, for a peaceful lakeside picnic. Relax in the serene environment, enjoy the area’s quiet beauty and watch the sun go down.
Finish the day with a candlelit dinner at Door 222, a local favorite since 2012, known for its intimate setting and exceptional cuisine. Enjoy a leisurely meal together, savoring every moment of your getaway.

Day 4: Departure

Before departing, visit the moody and local Dark Heart Coffee Bar for an artistic, cozy atmosphere and single-origin coffee.

In the evening, take a leisurely walk around Lake Loveland for some light movement and to enjoy the sunset by the water.

During the day, indulge in a luxurious spa treatment at Cedar & Magnolia Day Spa, Naturally Yours Wellness Spa or another locally owned spa.
Then, enjoy a light, healthy dinner at A.K.A Kitchen, known for its delicious, fresh food and local ingredients.

Day 3: Nature and Relaxation

Take a morning hike at Carter Lake, an idyllic spot for connecting with nature. The Sundance Trail is an easy, out-and-back trail with lake views throughout.
Afterward, relax with a book or journal at Loveland Coffee Company, known for its bright, inviting atmosphere.
Plan on charcuterie and a glass of wine at Sweet Heart Winery, a local winery with stunning views of the Rocky Mountains. Be sure to check their events calendar because they often host Wine & Barre classes and Wednesday Wine Dancing.

Day 4: Departure

Start the morning with a gentle walk through Benson Sculpture Garden to enjoy art and nature in tandem, then wrap up your trip with some coffee and cat snuggles at NoCo Cat Cafe.
