Lock Your Love

What exactly is a love lock?

Love locks are a symbol of love and commitment. Lovers lock a padlock on a chain, gate or sculpture and then throw away the key, symbolically locking their love forever.

Love locks have gained popularity worldwide after being placed on bridges and public places in Paris, Germany, New York and more. Loveland launched its very own love lock sculpture in 2019 as a part of its annual Sweetheart Festival, a joint project between Visit Loveland and the Loveland Chamber of Commerce.

Loveland’s love lock sculptures are a chance to give the love lock tradition new life through art and sculpture, a rich part of our local culture.

Two of the largest love lock sculptures in the U.S. are right here in Loveland.

Head to the Visitors Center to view our original sculpture, a 24,000-pound, 10-foot-tall, 30-foot-wide steel sculpture made up of four letters: L, O, V and E. Lock your love onto the back of the sculpture, along with thousands of other lovers who have made their way to Loveland to celebrate their love.

An additional love lock sculpture resides at the southeast corner of Lake Loveland, surrounded by stunning views of the Rocky Mountains. This heart-shaped sculpture is more than 12 feet tall and 14 feet wide.

How do you lock your love? Follow these easy steps.

Step 1: Get A Lock

Love locks are available for purchase at the Visitors Center or you may bring your own metal lock (must be smaller than 4” x 4 " x 3”).

Step 2: Customize It

Paint, engrave or draw on your lock to memorialize your love forever. During business hours, the Visitors Center offers free engraving tools to customize your lock.

Step 3: Lock It

Attach your customized lock to the metal grid on the back of either one of the love lock sculptures. Throw away the key in a nearby trashcan so your love is permanently locked (please don’t throw your key in the nearby pond or lake).

Step 4: Share It

Take photos as you lock your love and tag @visitloveland and use the hashtags #VisitLoveland and #LovelandLoveLocks when you post them to your social channels.

The love lock sculptures are located at the Visitors Center at 5400 Stone Creek Circle, Loveland, CO 80538, and on the southeast end of Lake Loveland, at the crossroads of W. Eisenhower Blvd. and Lake Dr. While this sculpture doesn’t have an exact address, look for “Heart Arch” on Google Maps for detailed directions.

You can either provide your own lock or purchase one from the Visitors Center. Feel free to customize your lock to represent your love. Locks must be under 4” x 4 ” x 3” to ensure as many couples as possible can enjoy the sculptures.

Love locks are $20 at the Visitors Center, we also have supplies for customizing your lock with paint pens or etching during regular operating hours.

Throw the key away as a symbolic act to solidify your love! For the health of our community and the functionality of our infrastructure, please do not throw your key in Lake Loveland near the heart-shaped sculpture or in the pond by the Visitors Center LOVE sculpture.

Please attach your lock to the back of the love lock sculptures, where there is a metal grid for your convenience. If you attach your lock to the front of the sculpture, it will be removed.
