Nestled in the heart of northern Colorado, Loveland isn’t just a place for romance—it’s a haven for self-care. Whether you’re looking to recharge in nature, sip wine while moving your body, snuggle up with some feline friends, or indulge in ultimate relaxation, Loveland offers a perfect retreat for mind, body, and soul. From outdoor adventures to cozy wellness experiences, here are five incredible ways to embrace self-care in the land of love.
DAY 1: Nature & Nurture
Soak in the Scenery
Hike Devil’s Backbone (1725 Hidden Valley Dr.) to reconnect with yourself in nature. Hike to find the “keyhole,” a unique arch within the backbone, or enjoy a portion of the 12 miles of trail in the 2,198-acre Devil’s Backbone Open Space, connecting Rimrock Open Space to Horsetooth Mountain Open Space. The area is perfect for a hike any time of year, along with wildlife viewing and observing nature. An annual park pass is required or there is a daily car fee of $10.
Wine Down
Sweet Heart Winery (5500 W. Hwy. 34) hosts monthly workout and wine classes like Wine & Barre, a 45-minute barre workout that combines elements of pilates, ballet, and yoga to deliver a full body workout. This low-impact, beginner-friendly workout is great for toning and strengthening and is followed by a complimentary glass of locally crafted wine. Other fun class offerings include Wednesday Wine Dancing where attendees learn how to swing or salsa dance, build creative charcuterie boards and listen to free live music. Check the calendar for the latest offerings. Looking for something less active? Check out their newly renovated and artistically landscaped patio overlooking the Big Thompson River as you sip and snack.
Cuddle the Kitties
NoCo Cat Cafe (121 E. 5th St.) lets you sip coffee or tea while cuddling adoptable cats. As the first cat café in the region, their mission is to provide a safe, friendly environment for cats and community members to socialize. To that end, adoptable cats and kittens are brought in from nonprofit partner Colorado Kitty Coalition cat rescue to roam free and – hopefully – be adopted. Note: There is a $15 fee to enter the café and the money funds rehoming the cats.
DAY 2: The Art of Relaxation
Stroll the Sculptures
Benson Sculpture Garden (1125 W. 29th St.) offers a serene escape where art and nature blend seamlessly. As you stroll its winding paths, surrounded by over 150 sculptures, mindfulness comes naturally. The intricate details, shifting light, and gentle sounds of nature invite you to slow down, breathe deeply, and truly observe. With each step, stress fades as you immerse yourself in the present moment.
Walking through Benson Sculpture Garden is a simple yet powerful self-care practice. Unlike the rush of daily life, this space encourages stillness and reflection. Pausing at each sculpture fosters appreciation, inspiration, and inner calm. Whether alone or with a loved one, this artistic sanctuary offers a chance to reset and restore balance. Want to sculpt your soul with more mindfulness? Check out the McWhinney-Hahn and Chapungu Sculpture Parks while you’re here.
Turn the Tension to Tranquility
Cedar & Magnolia Day Spa in West Loveland (100 West 29th St.) offers a plethora of ways to unwind. Schedule a massage, an herbal foot soak, a customized facial or one of many other offerings. Make a day of it by adding some time to relax in the salt room and experience infrared red light therapy in the sauna.
Naturally Yours Wellness Spa (150 E. 29th St., #245), celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, offers massage in addition to wellness treatments like reiki, flower essences, a crystal light bed, reflexology and more. Owner Linda King is trained in a variety of healing modalities and tailors her holistic treatments to what her clients need most.
Self-care isn’t a luxury—it’s a necessity, and Loveland provides the perfect setting to reconnect with yourself. Whether you find peace on a scenic trail, unwind with a spa treatment, or simply enjoy the small joys of wine and good company, taking time for yourself is always worthwhile. Plan your getaway to Loveland, and give yourself permission to slow down, breathe deeply, and recharge. Your own “self-care-adise” awaits.
